Description of Tested Tactic
The experiment was set up with a latin square design (plots measured 5 × 6 m) involving four treatments. The treatments included:
100% glyphosate dose as recommended on the product label (1080 g a.i./ha for fields without Elymus repens (L.) Gould, Glyfos Supreme, Cheminova Deutschland GmbH),
50% of the recommended dose,
chisel plowing and
mouldboard plowing. In the spring of 2015 the fields were given a re-set for the second season by mulching the biomass in the glyphosate-treated plots and managing all of the experimental plots with a rotary harrow. No re-set took place in the spring of 2016 except for the dead aboveground biomass being removed from the glyphosate-treated plots. The 2016 re-set was substituted by an additional treatment appointment. The plots were not treated in the fall after each season’s final weed survey due to the planned re-sets in the spring.

Description of Reference System
The experimental field was grassland up until four years prior to the current experiment. Since then, potatoes, spring wheat, lupins and winter wheat were cropped. No glyphosate was applied in these years, but crop-specific selective herbicides were.
