Description of Tested Tactic
Test of allelopathic and dead mulch effects of rye, squarrose clover, and the mixture of both cover crops on weed suppression, in a no-till system. For dead mulch, the cover crops are rolled and flamed.
Laboratory and field experiments were conducted to assess the allelopathic potential of two cover crop species, rye (Secale cereale L.) and squarrose clover (Trifolium squarrosum L.), alone or in a mixture, on seed germination and growth of arable weeds.
Description of Reference System
Tillage system.
Also compared to incorporated cover crops in a tillage system.
Control treatment without cover crop
Reference System Type
NO-HERBICIDE
UNTREATED
